Turn Modules On or Off

Hide Invoices or Accounting for your whole company when you do that work outside DrillerDB, and turn them back on at any time

Turn Modules On or Off

Some companies invoice and keep their books in another program, such as QuickBooks, and never use the Invoices or Accounting parts of DrillerDB. An admin can turn those modules off for the whole company in Settings > Modules. A module that is off leaves the sidebar, the phone menu, search, the dashboard, and the tabs and buttons that lead into it. Nothing is deleted. When you turn a module back on, everything shows exactly as it was.

Quick Start: Turn a Module Off

  1. Open Settings and click Modules in the Company group.
  2. Click the switch next to Invoices or Accounting.
  3. Check that the row shows Off and a Saved note.

Only admins see Settings > Modules. Office staff and field roles do not.

Step-by-Step: Turn a Module Off

  1. Open Settings and click Modules in the Company group of the settings menu. Each module has a switch. On means the module is in use and everyone in the company sees it.
  2. Click the switch next to Invoices or Accounting. The change saves at once. The row shows Off and a Saved note, and your sidebar updates.
  3. Other people in your company see the change the next time they load or refresh a page.

If the switch moves back and a message says the change was not saved, your account is not an admin. Ask an admin to make the change.

What Each Module Hides

With Invoices off, DrillerDB hides:

  • Invoices in the sidebar and the phone menu
  • Invoice results in search
  • The Invoices quick action and the Open Invoices tile on the dashboard
  • Overdue-invoice action items
  • The Invoice tab on projects
  • The Invoices tab and the Create Invoice button on Pump/Service jobs
  • The Invoices tab on contacts
  • The Invoice and Paid steps on a project's Drill Path

With Accounting off, DrillerDB hides:

  • Accounting in the sidebar and the phone menu
  • The Accounting Settings shortcut on the Settings page
  • The Connect bank feeds step in the setup checklist

Service contracts are part of Accounting, so they hide with it. Each contact's Service Contracts tab stays.

Turn a Module Back On

  1. Open Settings > Modules.
  2. Click the switch so it shows On.

Every screen, tab, and record comes back as it was. Nothing is deleted while a module is off.

What Modules Do Not Change

Modules are not a permission

Turning a module off tidies the screens. It does not stop anyone from seeing invoices or the books. To control who can see them, set each person's role in Settings > Users. Field Technicians already cannot open invoices.

  • Invoices you already sent stay payable. The customer payment page is not part of the console, so customers can still pay them.
  • The mobile app does not change. Settings > Modules changes the web console only.
  • QuickBooks sync keeps running. A QuickBooks connection in Settings > Integrations is not affected. With Accounting off, the QuickBooks sync status page under Accounting is hidden along with the rest of Accounting.

Troubleshooting

Someone opened an old link and saw "Invoices is turned off". That is expected. A link into a module that is off shows that notice instead of the page. An admin can turn the module back on in Settings > Modules, and the link works again.

I cannot find Settings > Modules. The page is for admins only. Ask an admin on your account to make the change.
