Exporting Projects to Excel

Navigate to the Reports section and select "Excel Projects Report" from the report type menu. This generates a complete spreadsheet containing all your project data.

The Excel export includes these data fields for each project:

Project Identification - Well key number, project name, location address, township/range/section information, and well number.

Customer Information - Customer name, contact details, phone numbers, and email addresses from your rolodex.

Project Details - Well type, depth, diameter, geology formation, drilling method, and completion date.

Financial Data - Proposal amount, total invoiced, payments received, and outstanding balance.

Status Information - Current project status (pending, approved, in progress, completed), proposal approval date, and project completion date.

Field Data - Driller hours logged, materials used, equipment assigned, and crew members.

Customizing Your Export

Before generating the export, you can filter which projects to include:

Date Range - Export projects created, approved, or completed within specific dates. This is ideal for monthly or quarterly reporting.

Status Filter - Include only projects with specific statuses (open, completed, canceled). Filter out inactive projects to focus on current work.

Customer Filter - Export projects for specific customers or customer groups. Ideal for customer-specific reports or billing analysis.

Region Filter - Filter by geographic area, county, or service territory.

Working with Exported Data

The Excel file opens with properly formatted columns and headers. Data is organized with one project per row, making it easy to sort, filter, and analyze in Excel.

Common uses for exported data include:

Financial Analysis - Calculate profit margins, identify high-value customers, and track revenue trends using Excel pivot tables.

Production Reporting - Analyze completion rates, average project duration, and crew productivity metrics.

Customer Reports - Generate customer-specific reports showing all projects completed within a time period.

Data Backup - Keep periodic Excel exports as backup records for auditing and compliance purposes.

The export preserves all data formatting and handles special characters correctly. Date fields export in standard Excel date format for easy manipulation.

For large datasets with hundreds of projects, the export may take a few moments to generate. Once complete, the file downloads automatically to your browser's download folder.
