Scheduling

Plan and coordinate your team's work with multiple scheduling views

Scheduling

DrillerDB's scheduling system helps you plan and coordinate your drilling operations with multiple views and real-time updates. Choose the view that works best for your workflow and use drag-and-drop to organize work efficiently.

Scheduling Views

The scheduling system provides four specialized views, each optimized for different planning tasks:

Calendar View presents your schedule as a familiar month or week calendar with drag-and-drop rescheduling. This view is ideal for visualizing project timelines and quickly understanding when work is scheduled.

Gantt View displays projects as horizontal bars on a timeline, making it easy to see project sequences, dependencies, and resource allocation over extended periods. Use this view for long-term planning and capacity analysis.

List View organizes scheduled work into cards grouped by team, showing detailed project information and allowing drag-and-drop reordering. This view provides the most information at a glance and is best for day-to-day schedule management.

Teams View focuses specifically on team-based scheduling, allowing you to assign entire crews to projects and manage team workloads. This view reflects the collaborative nature of drilling operations where work requires coordinated crews.

Key Features

The scheduling system includes powerful features to streamline your planning workflow:

Drag-and-drop scheduling allows you to reorder, reschedule, and reassign projects intuitively by clicking and dragging items to new positions.

Automatic conflict detection prevents double-booking and scheduling errors by validating changes before saving them.

Cascade scheduling automatically adjusts following projects when you reschedule work, maintaining proper sequencing and preventing gaps or overlaps.

Real-time updates keep everyone informed of schedule changes through WebSocket connections that sync updates across all connected users instantly.

GPS integration calculates distances between sequential projects and displays route maps, helping optimize crew travel and fuel costs.

Working hours configuration respects your company's work schedule, automatically skipping weekends and preventing scheduling outside business hours.

Getting Started with Scheduling

To begin scheduling projects, navigate to the Scheduling section from the main menu. The system defaults to List View but remembers your preferred view selection.

Add projects to the schedule by selecting them from the project dropdown at the bottom of each team card. The system automatically assigns dates based on estimated hours and the team's current workload.

Reorder projects by dragging them to new positions. The system recalculates dates automatically to maintain proper sequencing and prevent conflicts.

Switch between views using the view buttons in the toolbar. Each view displays the same underlying schedule data in different formats optimized for specific tasks.

Scheduling Workflow

An effective scheduling workflow typically follows these steps:

First, review unscheduled proposals and work orders to understand incoming work. Prioritize projects based on customer commitments, contract deadlines, and strategic importance.

Second, assign high-priority projects to appropriate teams considering crew skills, geographic location, and current workload. Use the List View to see each team's capacity.

Third, optimize the schedule by reviewing the geographic distribution of work in Map View and reordering projects to minimize travel time between jobs.

Fourth, verify that no conflicts exist by checking for warning indicators in any view. Resolve any flagged conflicts before finalizing the schedule.

Fifth, communicate the schedule to field crews by saving your changes. The system automatically notifies all assigned employees about their upcoming work.

Finally, monitor execution as crews complete projects and adjust the schedule as needed for changes, delays, or newly approved work.

Mobile Access

Field technicians can view their scheduled work on mobile devices through the DrillerDB mobile web interface. Crews see their upcoming projects in sequence with relevant details like customer information, GPS directions, and estimated hours.

The mobile web interface automatically syncs with office schedule changes, ensuring field crews always have current information. When schedules are updated, mobile users receive notifications about changes affecting their assigned work.
