State Well Report Autofill (Chrome Extension)

You already typed the well data once. The DrillerDB Chrome extension puts it into the state's online well report form so you do not type it again.

It works on the state agency's own website. You still review the form and you still submit it. The extension only fills the boxes.

Quick Start

1. In Chrome, sign in at console.drillerdb.com. Google sign-in works.
2. Click the DrillerDB extension icon in the Chrome toolbar, then click Connect console sign-in.
3. On the page that opens, click Allow, then accept Chrome's prompt. You do this one time.
4. Open the state well report form on the agency's site.
5. In the DrillerDB Import box at the top right, find your job (type the customer name or the job address and pick the match, or type the DrillerDB project number), then click Import.
6. Read the filled form, then submit it on the state's site.
7. Come back and click Mark as submitted so the project's compliance status updates.

What it covers

These are state forms. County and city permit forms are not part of the extension. For those, use the compliance tab on the project.

Before you start

1. Use Google Chrome. The extension does not run in Safari or Firefox.
2. Install the DrillerDB State Well Report Autofill extension from the Chrome Web Store.
3. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com in the same browser. Google sign-in works.

The extension pulls your well data with your DrillerDB sign-in. If you are signed out, it has nothing to pull. There is no separate password for the extension.

Some states also need their own account. That account belongs to the state, not to DrillerDB, and DrillerDB never asks for it:

• Kansas needs a KOLAR login. Your contractor details come from KOLAR, not from DrillerDB.
• Texas needs a TDLR/TWDB login. You also have to pick your driller and open a saved or new well report before the import will do anything.
• South Carolina needs an SCDES ePermitting login. You sign in to SCDES yourself.

Connect your console sign-in

Chrome keeps each extension away from websites until you allow it. So the first time, you let the extension use your console.drillerdb.com sign-in. You do this once per Chrome profile.

1. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com.
2. Click the DrillerDB extension icon in the Chrome toolbar. If you do not see it, click the puzzle-piece Extensions button first.
3. The popup says "Not signed in to DrillerDB. If you sign in on console.drillerdb.com, connect the extension to your console sign-in." Click Connect console sign-in.
4. A page titled Connect your console sign-in opens. Click Allow.
5. Chrome asks you to let the extension read console.drillerdb.com. Accept it.

The page then says "Connected to DrillerDB" with your company name, "using your console sign-in." The popup says "Connected to DrillerDB (console sign-in)" from now on.

The Connect console sign-in button also shows in the DrillerDB Import box on a state form if you click Import before you connect. It opens the same page.

The extension uses this access only to import the project number you enter and to record a submission when you click Mark as submitted. It never stores your password or your session. When you sign out of console.drillerdb.com, the extension loses access on its next request.

If you already use the classic DrillerDB app in the same browser, the extension also works with that sign-in. You do not need to connect.

Step-by-step: fill a form

1. Open the state's well report form in Chrome and get to the page where you would normally start typing.
2. Look at the top right of the page. A white box titled DrillerDB Import appears there once the extension recognizes the form.
3. Find your job. Either:
   • Under Find a job, type at least 2 characters of the customer name or the job address. Up to five matching jobs show below the box. Click yours. The box says "Choose a job, then click Import. Up to 5 matches shown." Deleted jobs and service work orders are left out.
   • Or type the DrillerDB project number into Or enter the project number. It is the number in the project's web address in DrillerDB. A state permit number will not match.
4. Click Import.
5. The box says "Fetching data from DrillerDB...", then "Filling form...". Give it a second.
6. Read the whole form before you submit it. Check the numbers against your own records.

If the DrillerDB Import box never shows up, the extension did not recognize that page. Check that you are on one of the forms in the table above and that you are past the agency's login screen.

On Colorado forms, the import also fills the permit number, the advance notification, and the township and range from the well log, so keep those filled in on the project.

Tables fill in too

Geology, casing, and the other repeating rows are filled in as well, not just the single boxes. Every state lays these out differently, so this is the part most worth a careful read before you submit. A row in the wrong order is easy to miss and annoying to fix after filing.

South Carolina D-3647

On the SCDES ePermitting Notice of Intent to Construct (D-3647), the extension fills the Well Owner, Well Driller, Site Information, and Certification sections. The box then counts the fields it filled in each section and says: "Review the map pin, validate addresses, then certify, submit, and pay manually."

The extension does not certify, submit, or pay for you. You sign in to SCDES with your own ePermitting login, and DrillerDB never asks for that login.

After you submit

Once you have filed the report on the state's site, tell DrillerDB about it. The DrillerDB Import box shows a Mark as submitted button after a successful fill.

1. Type the state's confirmation number into the box if they gave you one. You can leave it blank.
2. Click Mark as submitted.

This updates the compliance status on the project, so the well stops showing up as still owing a report. Skipping this does not break anything on the state's side, but your project will keep looking unfiled in DrillerDB.

When something goes wrong

"Enter the DrillerDB project number - the number in the project's URL. A state permit number will not match." The box is empty, or it has a character it does not accept. Type the DrillerDB project number, not the state's permit number.

"No jobs found. Try another name or address, or enter the project number." The search found no match. Try the last name alone, or part of the street address. A deleted job or a service work order will not show. You can always type the project number instead.

"Job search is unavailable. Try again or enter the project number." The search did not get an answer. Try again, or type the project number and click Import.

"Not signed in to DrillerDB. If you sign in on console.drillerdb.com, connect the extension to your console sign-in." The extension cannot see a DrillerDB sign-in yet. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com, then click Connect console sign-in and follow Connect your console sign-in.

"Not signed in to DrillerDB. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com." You connected the extension, but you are signed out of the console. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com in another tab, then come back and click Import again. You do not need to reload the state's form.

"Your DrillerDB console sign-in has ended. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com and try again." Your console session ended while you worked. Sign in again in another tab, then click Import or Mark as submitted again.

"Not signed in to DrillerDB. Sign in at console.drillerdb.com and try again." You clicked Mark as submitted while signed out. Sign in, then click it again.

"Chrome did not grant access. Click Allow to try again." You closed or declined Chrome's prompt on the connect page. Click Allow again and accept it.

"This account cannot use the DrillerDB extension." Your DrillerDB user is inactive, or it is an outside accountant login. Ask the person who manages users at your company to check your account.

"Too many requests. Try again shortly." Wait a minute, then click Import again.

"DrillerDB did not answer. Try again in a moment." DrillerDB did not respond in time. Try again. If it keeps happening, email info@drillerdb.com.

"No recent import found for this portal. Import a well first." Mark as submitted needs an import on this state's site within the last 6 hours. Import the well again, then record the submission.

"This submission was already recorded in DrillerDB." You already marked this one as submitted. Nothing to do.

The form filled, but some boxes are still empty. The extension only fills what DrillerDB has. If a field is blank, the well record is probably missing that value. Fill it in by hand on the state form, then add it to the well log in DrillerDB so the next report has it.

A word of caution

Read the filled form before submitting it. The extension is a typing shortcut, not a replacement for checking your own work. You are the one signing the report.
