Adding Line Items to Proposals
Line items are the foundation of your proposal. They detail the specific services, materials, and costs that make up your quote. DrillerDB provides flexible tools for building accurate and professional proposals.
Creating Line Items
When building a proposal, you can add line items manually or use templates to speed up the process. Each line item includes:
- Item Name: Description of the service or material
- Quantity: Number of units required
- Unit Cost: Price per unit
- Total: Automatically calculated (quantity × unit cost)
To add a line item, click the "Add Line Item" or "Add Custom Row" button in the proposal builder. Enter the item details and the total will calculate automatically.
Using Item Templates
Save time by using proposal templates. Templates store commonly used combinations of line items for different well types. When you select a template, DrillerDB automatically populates the line items with pre-set pricing and quantities.
You can create custom templates for different well types like Residential, Commercial, Hi-Cap, or Geo-Vertical wells. Templates adapt to your company's standard pricing structure.
Managing Past Line Items
DrillerDB remembers previously used line items, making it easy to add frequently quoted services. The system suggests items based on your company's history, ensuring consistent pricing across similar projects.
Editing and Adjusting Items
Modify any line item by clicking on it and updating the values. Change quantities, adjust pricing, or update descriptions as needed. The proposal total recalculates automatically as you make changes.
You can also delete unwanted line items by clicking the "Delete" button next to each item. This gives you complete control over your proposal structure.
Item Descriptions
Add detailed descriptions to line items to clarify the scope of work. Descriptions appear below the item name in the proposal, helping customers understand exactly what they're paying for.
Clear descriptions reduce confusion and set proper expectations before work begins.
Calculating Totals
DrillerDB automatically calculates subtotals, applies tax if configured, and displays the final total. The system ensures accuracy across all calculations, eliminating manual math errors.
If you've configured down payment options, these appear separately below the total, clearly showing required or optional deposit amounts.
