Tower Up and Tower Down record when a crew starts and finishes work on a job site. The field app stamps each one with the time and, when it can, the location. The office gets an email and an in-app notification for each.
Quick Start: Record Tower Up and Tower Down
- Open the DrillerDB field app on your phone
- On Today, or on the job's own screen, tap Tower Up when drilling starts
- When drilling is finished, tap Tower Down
- On the Tower Down screen, review the forms, add photos and a comment, and tap Tower Down
- The office receives a notification each time
Understanding Tower Up/Down

On a pump or service work order the buttons read Arrive and Depart instead of Tower Up and Tower Down. They do the same thing.
Recording Tower Up
Step-by-Step: Record Tower Up
- Open the field app
- Tap Tower Up on Today, or open the job and tap Tower Up
- If the app asks for location access, allow it so the site position can be saved
- The time is stamped automatically
Tower Up is one tap. There is no notes box on it. If you tap Tower Up by mistake, use Discard this tower-up on the same card.
The location is best effort. If the phone has no location fix or no permission, Tower Up still records with the time, and the app shows that the location was not recorded.

Recording Tower Down
Step-by-Step: Record Tower Down
- Open the field app and tap Tower Down on Today or on the job
- Under Before you tower down, open each form that applies: Inventory (materials used on the job), the Well log (Pump log on a work order), and Company forms (state permit and company forms)
- Under Photos, add photos of the site
- Under Comment, say what was done on site
- Tap Tower Down
The forms, photos, and comment are saved on the phone as you work. If you back out, the app offers Keep for later, and you can pick up where you stopped. With no signal, the Tower Down is queued and sends by itself when the phone is back online.
By default a company requires at least one photo and a comment, and Tower Down stays unavailable until both are added. If an admin has turned that requirement off, the app still asks for both, and the button reads Tower Down anyway so the crew can skip them.

Settings That Affect Tower Up and Down
An admin finds these in Settings > Company Info, in the Features card:

| Nightly tower-down reminders | Reminds crews at 6pm each day while they are still towered up, weekends included |
| Require photo and comment on tower down | On, the field app needs a photo and a comment before Tower Down. On is the default. Off, it still asks and the crew can skip them |
| Lock completed jobs for field techs | On, field techs cannot tower up or tower down on a job that is Complete or Closed. Admin, office, and field supervisor users still can. Off is the default. See General Settings |
Troubleshooting
Tower Up button not appearing?
- Check that you are signed in
- A job that is not an Open Job does not appear when you pick a job to tower up on. Ask the office to convert the proposal to an Open Job
The office did not get an email?
- Emails go to people with an office or admin role, and to the person who towered up. Check the address on the user's record
- Check the spam folder
Time seems wrong?
- Check the phone's date, time, and time zone
- Contact support if the difference remains
