Map Filtering

Filter map markers by status, date range, and project type

Map Filtering

Map filtering allows you to narrow down the projects displayed on the Job Map by applying status, date, and type criteria. These filters help you focus on specific categories of work and reduce visual clutter when dealing with large project databases.

Filter Panel

The filter panel appears above the map interface and provides multiple filtering options. Filters apply immediately as you make selections, updating the visible markers in real-time without requiring a refresh or submit action.

All filters work together using AND logic, meaning a project must match all selected criteria to appear on the map. If you select multiple values within a single filter type, those use OR logic. For example, selecting both Active and Pending status shows projects matching either status.

Status Filtering

The status filter allows you to show or hide projects based on their current workflow status. Common status options include Active, Pending, Completed, On Hold, Cancelled, and Quoted.

Use status filtering to focus on specific work categories. Select only Active to view current job sites. Choose Completed to review finished work distribution across your service area. Filter to Pending and Quoted to identify potential upcoming work that needs scheduling.

Each status has a corresponding checkbox. Check multiple statuses to show all matching projects. Uncheck all statuses to clear the filter and show all projects regardless of status.

Date Range Filtering

Date range filters limit map markers to projects falling within a specified time period. You can filter by several date types depending on your needs.

Created date filtering shows projects entered into the system during a specific timeframe. This helps analyze when new business was generated and identify seasonal patterns in quote activity.

Scheduled date filtering displays projects with start or completion dates within the selected range. Use this to view only currently scheduled work or identify projects scheduled for a specific month or season.

Completed date filtering shows only projects finished within the date range. This is useful for reviewing recent work or analyzing productivity over specific time periods.

The date picker supports both quick presets like "Last 30 Days" or "This Quarter" and custom date ranges where you manually select start and end dates. Date filters respect your timezone settings.

Project Type Filtering

Project type filters narrow the map to show only specific well types or job categories. Common types include water well installation, pump repair, well abandonment, geothermal, and test drilling.

Type filtering helps specialized crews identify relevant work. A pump service technician can filter to show only pump repair projects. A geothermal crew can display only geothermal installations.

The type filter includes all project types configured in your system. Select multiple types to show any matching project. Clear all selections to remove the type filter.

Geographic Filtering

While not a traditional filter, you can focus on specific geographic regions by zooming and panning the map. The system loads only markers visible in the current map viewport plus a small buffer area, improving performance for companies with thousands of projects.

As you pan or zoom the map, new markers automatically load for the newly visible area. This lazy-loading approach ensures the map remains responsive even with large datasets.

Clearing Filters

Click the "Clear Filters" button to remove all active filters and return to showing all projects on the map. Individual filters can be cleared by deselecting all options within that filter category.

The system remembers your last-used filters and automatically reapplies them when you return to the map view. This allows you to maintain consistent filtering preferences across multiple sessions.

Filter and List Integration

Map filters synchronize with the project list view. Any filters you apply on the map also filter the project list, and vice versa. This bidirectional synchronization ensures consistent data views across all interface components.

Use this integration to apply complex filters in list view, then switch to map view to see the geographic distribution of matching projects. Or filter the map, then switch to list view to work with the filtered dataset in a tabular format.
