Job Map
The Job Map provides an interactive Google Maps view of all your projects and jobs across your service area. This powerful visualization tool helps you understand geographic distribution of work, identify clusters of activity, and plan efficient routing for your crews.
Job Map View
Accessing the Job Map
To open the Job Map, navigate to the Projects section and click the "Map View" button in the toolbar. The map loads with markers representing all projects that have valid GPS coordinates. Projects without location data are excluded from the map view.
The map automatically centers on your projects and adjusts the zoom level to show all markers. If you have projects across a wide geographic area, the map zooms out to fit all locations. For concentrated work in a single area, the map zooms in for detailed viewing.
Map Markers and Colors
Each project appears as a colored marker on the map. Marker colors correspond to project status, making it easy to identify different types of work at a glance:
Blue markers represent active or in-progress projects currently being worked on by your crews. Green markers indicate completed projects where work has been finished and closed out. Yellow markers show pending or scheduled projects awaiting crew assignment or start dates. Red markers highlight on-hold or problematic projects requiring attention.
Click any marker to open an information window displaying project details including customer name, well type, address, and current status. The info window includes a link to open the full project record for editing or viewing complete details.
Marker Clustering
When you have many projects in close proximity, the map automatically groups nearby markers into numbered clusters. These clusters display the count of projects within that geographic area and help prevent screen clutter from overlapping markers.
Click a cluster to zoom into that area and reveal the individual project markers. As you zoom in, clusters automatically break apart into smaller clusters or individual markers based on the map scale. This hierarchical clustering works at all zoom levels.
Cluster colors follow the same status-based coloring system as individual markers. If a cluster contains mostly active projects, it appears blue. Mixed clusters use a neutral gray color.
Map Controls
The map includes standard Google Maps controls for navigation. Use the zoom buttons to adjust the view scale, or scroll your mouse wheel for quick zooming. Click and drag to pan around the map and explore different areas.
Switch between Map, Satellite, and Terrain views using the layer selector in the top-right corner. Satellite view shows aerial imagery, useful for identifying job site features and access roads. Terrain view highlights elevation changes, important for drilling operations in hilly or mountainous regions.
The location button re-centers the map on your current GPS position if you've granted browser location permissions. This helps field crews quickly orient themselves relative to nearby job sites.
Using the Job Map
The Job Map excels at several common workflows. Use it to identify geographic areas with high project density when planning crew routes. Visualize coverage gaps in your service area and target new customer acquisition efforts. Review completed work distribution to understand which regions generate the most business.
Field crews can use the map on mobile devices to locate nearby job sites and plan efficient daily routes. Office staff can reference the map during customer calls to quickly locate existing projects or estimate distances to potential new work.
The map integrates with the filtering system, so any filters you apply to the project list also filter the map markers. This allows you to view only specific project types, date ranges, or status categories on the map.
