We originally chose B.W. Layman & Sons because they were flexible with payment, but we truly regret that decision. From the start, communication was extremely poor despite our urgent timeline to sell our home. Workers often arrived without notice or didn’t show up at all, including the owner, Phil Layman, who no-showed and offered no solution or follow-up. At one point, he even stated he assumed he could come and go because the door was unlocked — which was only unlocked because he said he would be there that day. We don’t live at the property and repeatedly requested updates and photos of completed work, but those requests were ignored. Old well materials were left scattered throughout the yard, creating additional work for us while preparing the house for sale. Important details about what was and wasn’t included in the job were never explained, and we only learned certain information through the county — not the company. Communication continued to deteriorate. Messages went unanswered for days, and when we finally spoke with Phil, he became verbally disrespectful and unprofessional. Later, despite ongoing communication about our closing timeline, a lien was placed on our home. The payoff amount sent to the title company was also over $800 higher than both the invoice and recorded lien, with added fees that were never communicated or agreed to. All we wanted was clear communication and professionalism. Instead, we experienced delays, lack of transparency, and unacceptable customer service. I wish I had gone with any other company — if there were a zero-star option, that is what I would choose. I cannot recommend B.W. Layman & Sons under any circumstances.
